Finance Yorkshire triumphs at Dealmakers Awards
Finance Yorkshire came out on top at the prestigious 2014 Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards, taking the title of Alternative Finance Firm of the Year.
The Dealmakers awards dinner – run by Yorkshire Business Insider – is the biggest event of its kind for accountants, lawyers and business investors in the region.
The annual, black-tie event, held at New Dock Hall in Leeds, was attended by more than 600 of Yorkshire’s leading business figures. Gavin Frost, of event sponsor R&B Group, presented Alex McWhirter, Chief Executive of Finance Yorkshire, with the Alternative Finance Firm of the Year Award. The event was hosted by TV and radio presenter Colin Murray.
Alex said: “In a month where we have surpassed the £85.5m mark for investments, the Dealmakers Award is great recognition for Finance Yorkshire and the deals we have made in businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber – deals which have created and safeguarded 8,716 jobs and increased collective turnover by £224 million.”
Finance Yorkshire provides seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15,000 to £2m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to meet their funding requirements for growth and development.
The project is supported financially by the European Union. It has attracted £30million investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme, £15 million from UK Government and £45 million match funding from the European Investment Bank.
