Televideo targets £7m turnover following investment
Independent outside broadcast company Televideo is set for growth in 2016 following investment from Finance Yorkshire.
Based in Sheffield, Televideo specialises in outside broadcast and production for most of the major television broadcasters including the BBC, Sky Sport, BT Sport, Eurosport and Channel 5.
Televideo was established in 1976 and has grown to be one of the UK’s largest outside broadcast companies. It is targeting a £7m turnover, up £2m on this year, and also plans to add to its 55-strong workforce.
A £100,000 Business Loan from Finance Yorkshire has enabled Televideo to acquire an uplink vehicle which means it can now offer clients improved outside broadcast and production facilities.
Managing Director Paul Scivill explained: “The production and uplink vehicle means we can go anywhere and deploy a dish on top of the unit with a multi-camera operation to do live production rather than it being done from a studio.
“This means we can offer clients a more complete package – not only can we do the outside broadcast, we can deliver the content as well.”
Televideo operates 11 outside broadcast units and a number of different kinds of support vehicle. The uplink unit has already been used to deliver work for the BBC’s One Show and BBC Music.
Finance Yorkshire’s David Ward, said: “Televideo is a long established business with a great reputation for delivering high quality outside broadcast recording facilities to some of the biggest names in broadcasting. The company is well positioned with this latest broadcasting technology to grow further and create jobs.”
To date, Finance Yorkshire has invested over £98m, enabling companies to increase their turnover by £352 million and attract a further £187 million from other private sector sources. Through this activity, Finance Yorkshire investment has helped those SMEs to create and safeguard 10,670 jobs in Yorkshire and the Humber.
Finance Yorkshire provides seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, ranging from £15,000 to £2m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to meet their funding requirements for growth and development.
The project is supported financially by the European Union and attracts investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of Europe’s support for the region’s economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme, UK Government and the European Investment Bank. Finance Yorkshire is also supported by the Regional Growth Fund.
